Podcast for History Fans

I can't say enough about a series of podcasts by Dan Carlin. He has both free and purchased recordings. Among the free ones are my favorites: HARDCORE HISTORY--He has a series: Wrath of the Khans (starting with the premise that if you wanted to write a best seller, try writing about the good things that flowed from Nazi Germany. His point being that we are too close to seeing any good but our ancestors might, depending on how history evolves, as it did after the experiences of Asia and Europe before the armies of the great Khan which match WWII quantitatively re lives lost....... He does a great series on World War I (Preparing for Armageddon) and just recently got to his final (#4) podcast on the "Supernova in the East" ie the rise and fall of imperial Japan. He also has an interesting podcast now on hold called "Common Sense." Disclaimer: he is very clear that he is not a historian but he is a lover of history. He researches the material and delivers a narrative with discussion that is of very high quality. It has made many a long road trip seem very short and enjoyable, indeed.
