Books: The Crystal Cave by Mary Stewart and Skystone by Whyte—both are historical fiction setting up the Arthurian Legend. Both series are quite engaging.
The Don Camillo books by Fiovannino Guareschi: magical realism finds a catholic priest able to speak directly with Jesus as he contests the influence of the Communist mayor in post war rural Italy.
Uncle Tom’s Cabin by Stowe. surprising—old in style but amazingly current looks at the world as organized then and now.
