Twiv ie This week in Virology # 1164—they lament the public health structure as they have known it and critique some of their concerns such as Idaho’s recent stand re making Covid Vaccines available through Public Health.
Books:
Hippie by Paulo Coelho—-Famous for The Alchemist this book wanders through his dabbling with the counter culture in the early 70’s and he has a distinctly Brazilian point of view.
Ten Days in a Mad-House by Nellie Bly. In 1887 this journalist posed as a homeless insane person to get a first person look at a women’s insane asylum. I found her conclusions making me realize that everything old is new again.
The Secret Trial of Robert E Lee - Thomas Fleming—a “what if” book that poses a question I have often asked: “Why wasn’t Robert E Lee put on trial for treason?” (he was an office in the US army when the Civil War started). The question is asked and answered.
Streaming. YouTube —-Allegro Non Troppo is a satire (but there is also a satyr) done in 1976 of Fantasia—it is a somewhat silly Italian work but with beautiful artwork and cartoons set by classical music. If you have never seen it, the Bolero is worth the price of admission.
Peacock. Day of the Jackal is excellent.

SCAM OF THE MONTH: A not close friend of mine sent me an email asking if I did business with Amazon on line. I thought that an odd question but answered, “yes.” She then asked that I purchase an Amazon gift card for $250 because her stolen credit card was not being accepted by Amazon and she had an important gift to buy for a special event. I looked up her address in my contact page and wrote independently asking if in fact she had sent the email (which had come from a similar but different address). I was surprised when she answer, “Yes, that was me!” I then texted to her phone to find she had no idea what I was talking about…..so the scammer had the ability to respond to an email sent directly to her in the moment. Be careful out there……
