TV: Vow, on HBO: If after the election you are bewildered by the devotion of Trump followers who don’t seem to accept reality, consider spending a few hours on the HBO documentary VOW. It will show you the other side of the coin—college educated liberal people doing incredibly naive and stupid things because of their Faith in a cult leader.
Books: The Fifth Risk by Michael Lewis; We have a prejudice in this country about what motivates people, why, and the superiority of the entrepreneur. This books speaks to the transition in government between the Obama Administration and the Trump Administration and details how a “mission” can often motivate people to do things of real value—even when they work for the government.
Waiting for Snow in Havana by Carlos Eirie. This biographical journey finds a boy in Cuba in the late 1950’s and moves forward. I am not finished with it yet but heartily embrace it as a great read. The author has a PhD from Yale and it shows but with great humor!
Podcasts: Bombs away LeMay on Revisionist History by Malcolm Gladwell
Supernova in the East complements Revisionist History. It is a 5 part podcast on the rise of Imperial Japan and its fall—-by Dan Carlin on Hardcore History.

The Last Children of Down Syndrome by Sarah Zhang was very moving from many different points of interest.
School Wasn't so Great Before Covid Either by Erika Christakis. Watching Grandchildren in elementary school try to negotiate virtual classrooms has been interesting. This article covers a more comprehensive concern and I don't agree with all her points, but it will get you thinking about public education looking forward.
