Recommendations June 2021
Movies:
The Hospital with George C Scott and Diana Riggs. For those in medicine, the dialogue will take you back to residency.
Good Will Hunting: the scene with Robbin Williams confronting Matt Damon is worth the price of admission
Series: Made in Heaven: this is a soap opera from India but is beautifully crafted at many levels: visuals, music, and social questions in modern India. Worth the watch!
Podcasts: StoryTime with Mark; a co-worker of mine reads fiction from over a century ago. To Build a Fire by Jack London was a first for me and worth the listen.
Dan Carlson’s Common Sense #307, Revenge of the Gangrenous Finger is a reflection of the Brexit Vote shortly after it happened. His thoughts as we look at how things have gone are worth a listen.
Books: The Man Who Stands Before You by Nico: short stories that read like the guy talking to you in a bar when you were 24 years old and filled with improbable but “funny” stories.
Stitches: I will disclose, this is a novel written by my sister, Kathy Weyer. It holds together fairly well despite being a first effort and I do recommend it. See if you can find anyone like me in it!!! Or not.
